Old Port Rustic Dream
Our clients had a very clear picture in mind of how they wanted their new condo in the Old Port of Montreal to feel. Nature enthusiasts, this couple were drawn to natural, earthy materials and vibrant, rich colors.
The unit being situated in a modern condo building meant that Kelli needed to find a balance between the modern style of architecture and the clients proposed rustic style.
While we used a shaker style kitchen cabinet door, we actually designed the frames thinner than the standard shaker to give it a little more elegance. We also used traditional cup pulls in aged brass and a white porcelain farmhouse sink. Those elements give the kitchen that rustic traditional feel, however, to bring balance and make the kitchen still fit within the modern condo environment, we used a honed Calcutta marble, skirted it on both sides of the island, selected a modern faucet and designed a custom oil rubbed bronze hood fan. Those blended elements satisfy both the clients rustic design style and the architectural integrity of the design.
